During the Eucharistic prayer the priest prays, "Sanctify [the bread and wine] by your Word and Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of yoiur Son Jesus Christ."
What is this appeal to God asking? And what does it mean for God to answer it? How do the Words of Instituion and the Holy Spirit sanctify the bread and wine, and in what sense to they become for us Christ's Body and Blood?
