Dear Ascension family, Join me this Sunday as we dive into one of the most challenging encounters in the Gospels — when Jesus meets a desperate Canaanite woman and responds with silence… and then appears to call her a dog. Did He really say that? And what does this tense moment reveal about faith, mercy, and God’s plan for the world? Come wrestle with the difficult questions, discover the hidden grace, and see how this story speaks to us today. "Jesus and the Canaanite Woman — Harsh Words or Hidden Grace?" After coffee, join Deacon Rich as he leads a Scriptorium on "Francis: The Tangible Saint." Scriptoriums are one-off 45 minute classes on various subjects offered four or five times yearly. Please take advantage of these wonderful opportunities to expand your horizons! Fr Ken |

Saint Patrick’s DayMore Than Shamrocks and Parades This Monday, as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, it’s worth remembering that this holiday is more than just green attire, parades, and festive meals. It’s a time to reflect on the life of a remarkable man who brought the light of Christ to Ireland. Patrick’s story is one of faith, forgiveness, and mission. As a young boy, he was kidnapped from his home in Britain and enslaved in Ireland. During those difficult years, he turned to God in prayer, growing closer to the Lord. After escaping and returning to his family, Patrick received a divine call to go back to Ireland — not as a victim, but as a messenger of the Gospel. He preached tirelessly, converting thousands and establishing churches across the land. One of the most well-known symbols associated with Patrick is the shamrock, which he used to teach the Irish people about the Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As we honor St. Patrick, let us remember his courage and faithfulness. His life reminds us that God can transform hardship into mission and that the Gospel is for all people, everywhere. May we, like Patrick, answer God’s call with boldness and share His love with those around us. “Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me.” — From St. Patrick’s Breastplate Happy St. Patrick’s Day! |
